Erika D. Harrell is a twenty-three year old young woman from Columbus, Ohio. Erika graduated from Eastmoor Academy High School in 2006 and was involved in several extra-curricular activities. She was a cheerleading coach to Eastside Tiger Football and Cheer program, Peer Mentor, and a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
Erika graduated from Kentucky State University in May 2011. She majored in Political Science with a minor in English with hopes of being a Corporate Lawyer. She will attend law school this fall. With this goal set for her she found the time to partake in many extra-curricular activities on campus. She is a member and president of Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc., Beta Zeta Chapter, a member of the KSU Cheer Squad, a member of SGA she served as Miss Junior and Miss Green the 2nd attendant to Miss KSU, a member of the Student Ambassadors, she was Miss McCullin throgh the Office of Residence Life, also as a member of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship program.
In December 2010 she was crowned Miss Black Kentucky USA 2011. Her Platform during her 2011-2012 reigns is “Helping those who can’t see clearly” with this motto in mind she assisted battered women who have suffered from domestic violence and protecting and guiding youth with self-esteem issues. She has also contributed to raising awareness for the Heart Truth Campaign and the Take 25 Campaign. She has helped shine a light on how important it is for women to get checked out for heart disease and staying healthy. Erika has also partnered with local police in the helps to find missing children. Most recently in 2012 Erika has become the spokesperson for Booker Autism Foundation of Louisville, helping to raise awareness for Autism.
